A swinging frog

What's that little speck at the bottom of the hanging geranium pot on the back deck on Monday?

Why it is our newly identified gray tree frog that finds the coolest — literally — places to chill for the day.

Just last month, what I thought was a toad turned out to be a gray tree frog (check out "The lost spring" and "A toad by any other name ..." under the BDN columns at right). This is the deck frog, so called because it is always somewhere on the deck. Sometimes it is in a plant. Sometimes it is in a watering can. Sometimes it is in the gas grill.

Eeek. But we always check before we cook.

Isn't it the cutest thing?
