Late bloomers

The annuals are still looking lovely in the flower garden. The cosmos and patch of kiss-me-over-the-garden-gate were all rogue flowers this spring that seeded from last year. Because of their early start, they have been blossoming for months now, hopefully setting seed for next year's volunteers. This picture just makes me smile.

Here's the boy, checking out the flower patch. He had just walked through the dill, so that's all I could smell when I shot this one. He does love the garden plot.

If only he'd stay on the paths and not tread on everything.

I took these just before the official start of fall, so take a final, longing look at the last of summer 2010 ...
