First flush of color

I love that first wave of color as the leaves begin to pop on the trees. Up behind the gardening shed, late in the day, the chartreuse leaves glow against a gray-blue cloud.

The colder days have kept the red maples from dropping all their red buds, so the show continues for them. Soon they will sport little green leaves.
