Out for a walk

We were back at University Forest on Saturday, walking the entire length of the path that runs parallel to Stillwater Avenue. I think it must be about a mile in length because it took us quite a long time to make our way from one end to the other. More than an hour, I think, which isn't exactly speed-walking, but how can you with a dog with an overactive sniffer?

Above is Kai on our trip back to the car. He's becoming an excellent walking companion, following commands when strange folks and dogs approach from either direction. He does really well with the stop and sit, as seen above and below.

Below is a lovely shot of our boy at the start of our walk, posing by the big fields skirted by the paths at the forest. Isn't he a fine looking fellow?

And for fun, here's a little live action as we start on the path, when both of us were feeling much more chipper.

Finally, we had a quick run to the vet's Friday, where Kai got weighed, met with doggie pals, etc. Our boy topped out at 41.9 pounds, just a bit more than 6 pounds he's gained in the three months we've had him (three months Thursday!). But we've noticed he is taller and longer, and then there is that crazy fur thing going on. I'm going to have to get a picture of his tailfeathers, which are looking quite distinctive.

He's such a handsome boy!
