The first basket

I've been picking odds and ends for a while, but today was the first basketful of goodies: cucumbers, tomatoes, summer squash, peppers and peas.

And then there are all the babies that have popped, even though the rain has been excessive the past couple of weeks (as in six inches, give or take a downpour or two). I spotted my first baby eggplants and melons, which had eluded my view until the sun finally shone Tuesday.

This may be a good year for onions, too. The plants look to be bulbing up just fine, which is better luck than I have had in many a year.
